Why learn Math?
Math offers more opportunities beyond grade school, middle school, and high school. Its applications to real-life scenarios are vast.
The importance of mathematics to your child’s success can’t be overstated. Basic math is a necessity, but even abstract math can help hone critical thinking skills — even if your child chooses not to pursue a STEM-style career. Math can help them succeed professionally, emotionally, and cognitively. Here’s why.
1. Math promotes healthy brain function
Engaging in math exercises provides a mental workout that benefits our cognitive abilities. Regular practice keeps our brain active and functioning well, akin to exercise for our minds. Many studies have shown that solving math problems improves cognitive health over time
2. Math improves problem-solving skills
Word Problems: Although math problems like John Doe buying a dozen apples and returning 3 of them back to the store may seem trivial, they play a crucial role in developing problem-solving skills. These exercises teach kids how to extract essential information and manipulate it to find solutions. This skill extends beyond math into real-life scenarios.
Complex Life Problems: As students progress, they encounter more intricate challenges. Understanding algorithms and problem-solving techniques allows them to decode facts and tackle real-world issues more effectively. Math and logic provide valuable tools for finding solutions in everyday life.
3. Math develops flexible thinking and creativity
Engaging in math practice has been demonstrated to enhance investigative skills, resourcefulness, and creativity. Math problems often demand flexible thinking and multiple approaches. When our initial process fails, we must tap into creativity to discover new pathways to solutions. Like any skill, this way of thinking improves with practice.
4. Math opens up many different career paths
Many careers use a large number of math concepts. These include architects, accountants, engineers, researchers, and scientists.
However many other professionals use math skills every day to complete their jobs. CEOs and business owners use math to analyze financials. Graphic designers use math to figure-out the appropriate scale and proportions in their designs. Cooking professionals use math to measure ingredients.
Math is a universal language. No matter what career path your child chooses, math skills will be beneficial.
Careers that heavily use math are among the fastest-growing It's not just STEM jobs that will require math other popular, high-growth careers like nursing and teaching now ask for a minimum knowledge of college-level math.
5. Math improves financial literacy
Although children may not currently manage their finances, math skills will significantly impact their adult lives. Budgeting and saving play a crucial role: where can they reduce spending? How will budgeting help them achieve financial goals? Additionally, understanding loans, interest rates, and evaluating job salaries become essential as they transition into adulthood.
As you can see we can go on and on about the reasons why learning math is important but you get the picture (or in our case the equation)
Is Gru4Good only for students who are struggling or only for geniuses?
Be believe every child is a Genius! This is not about IQ. This is about the growth potential of every child. Every child has so much potential & growth to be developed.
The classes are for students and their learning goals. If they need to be challenged more than in class we prepare them with rigorous curriculum, or we need to help conquer the fear of math we do that so in essence we have plans for every student.
Is it expensive?
Our hourly charges turn out to be way less than what the big tutoring franchises charge and we offer free classes as well for those who cannot afford and remember all of our profits go towards educating the underprivileged. Some of the organizations that we support are in our inspiration section.
